Return to Love by Marianne Williamson – This book taught me how to truly forgive.  She redefines forgiveness as a conscious decision to think only loving thoughts about a person.  Why would you do this?  As AA teaches, holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.  Deciding doesn’t mean negative thoughts don’t pop up, they most definitely will.  It means that when they do, you change the channel; you train your mind to associate the person with only the loving memories.  It’s is so powerful that it can actually be embarrassing.  i remember having lunch with a girlfriend and she’s sharing some very difficult memories which reminded me of my own.  Much to my chagrin, I kept smiling at the happy memories which had taken the place of my old painful ones.  Can you imagine smiling over the people who hurt you the most?  Free yourself from your painful thoughts.

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle – Eckhart masterfully explains that the mind is like a hammer.  It’s  wonderful tool, but it is not appropriate for every situation; sometimes you have to put it down.  Thinking is so addictive!  And tricky!  Many more gems of wisdom inside.
